Kittle cleared after Achilles tear recovery

George Kittle is set to play in the San Francisco 49ers' season-opening game against the Los Angeles Rams after being left off the official injury report, the team’s Week 1 status shows.
Kittle suffered a torn Achilles tendon during the 49ers' wild-card playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year, Yardbarker reported. The return to the season opener comes after an extended rehabilitation process that began in the offseason.
Ramp-up through camp, a quicker-than-expected timeline
Kittle began training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and then spent about a month ramping up before returning to full team activities, CBS Sports reported. That gradual progression through organized work played out across organized team activities, training camp and additional sessions away from the Bay Area.
Yardbarker noted the turnaround from injury to game action was a little more than seven months, a recovery window shorter than the nine-to-12-month timetable often cited for Achilles tears.
Teammate reaction and context heading into Week 1
Quarterback Brock Purdy praised Kittle’s rehabilitation publicly, calling the recovery “remarkable” after watching the process unfold. “He did everything he could to get back for Week 1,” Purdy said, adding that Kittle’s work through the offseason and camp stood out to teammates and staff, Yardbarker reported.
The 49ers also had another long-term injury concern removed from the report: defensive end Nick Bosa is off the injury report and expected to play in Week 1, CBS Sports noted. Together, those developments remove two major question marks from the 49ers' opener.
Kittle’s availability ends weeks of uncertainty about his status and gives the 49ers a veteran presence for the season opener. How the team uses him in Week 1 will be revealed on game night, but his presence on the active list is the clearest indicator yet that his rehab program returned him to game readiness in time for the Rams matchup.
