Sky Sports reported that Jaxson Dart was a clean, efficient presence in the pocket, completing 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards and adding 54 rushing yards to keep Dallas off balance. Dart connected multiple times with Isaiah Likely in his New York debut, and the Giants also got key contributions out of Devin Singletary and Cam Skattebo as they built enough separation to close out the night.
Cam Skattebo returned from injury and finished with 81 rushing yards on 18 carries, helping provide the Giants a consistent rushing presence. The Cowboys, meanwhile, were flagged eight times for 85 yards and surrendered a costly interception by Dak Prescott, issues that undermined several drives and shifted momentum at critical moments.
Individual performances and turning points
Dart’s ability to mix throws with designed runs and scrambles forced Dallas to account for him at every level. Sky Sports noted that Isaiah Likely made eight catches on eight targets for 78 yards in his first game with New York, giving Dart a reliable target when protections broke down or the Cowboys elected to crowd the box.
On the other sideline, Dak Prescott completed 22 of 34 passes for 175 yards and threw one interception, while connecting on scoring plays with CeeDee Lamb and Javonte Williams. The Cowboys’ defense, which entered the season with expectations of improvement, did not look as stingy as hoped in Week 1, and repeated penalties compounded their problems.
Penalties were a recurring issue for Dallas: officials flagged the Cowboys eight times for 85 yards, a sequence that included infractions that extended Giants drives and at least one that affected special-teams positioning.
Coaching debut and context
The opener also served as a notable personal debut on the New York sideline: it was John Harbaugh's debut as coach.
The Giants leave Week 1 with a victory that showcased a balanced offensive approach and a quarterback who controlled the game tempo. For Dallas, the combination of turnovers, penalties and an underwhelming defensive showing will be the focal points heading into their next contest.
