Hurts' own update and team practice reports

Jalen Hurts confirmed Wednesday that he suffered a calf injury during Week 4, saying he “got nicked up in the Rams game” while addressing reporters at his midweek press conference.
Hurts was again listed on the Eagles’ Wednesday injury report with a calf issue, but he also fully participated in practice that day. That full participation offers some reassurance, though Yahoo! News noted it does not necessarily mean the issue has completely resolved.
Performance through five games and contingency considerations
Through five games this season, Hurts has thrown for 933 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 57.8 percent of his passes. He has added 107 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Hurts confirmed he was dealing with the calf issue ahead of last Sunday’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars but still played in that game.
Because Hurts remains a central figure in Philadelphia’s offense, his health is a significant factor as the team looks to reverse its recent results. Bleacherreport projected that if Hurts were to be sidelined going forward, the Philadelphia backup quarterback Tanner McKee could be called upon to lead the offense until Hurts is able to return.
The combination of Hurts’ confirmation, his presence on the team’s injury report and his full practice participation creates a mixed picture: an acknowledged injury alongside on-field involvement that at least temporarily preserves planning continuity for the coaching staff.
