Daniels seen warming up in brace as he recovers from dislocated elbow
Jayden Daniels flew with the Washington Commanders to London and was seen on the practice field Wednesday as he continues his recovery from a left elbow dislocation suffered in Week Two against the Dallas Cowboys.
Daniels took part in a limited "jog-through" while wearing a brace, a visible sign the club is managing the injury conservatively; the team has kept his on-field activity restricted while medical staff monitor his progress.
Coaching staff cautious; Friday decision expected
Head coach Dan Quinn emphasized the team will not rush Daniels back. Quinn said it was "too early to call" whether Daniels will be available for Sunday's London game against the Indianapolis Colts, adding, "By Friday we'll have a definite determination of where we're at."
Quinn also stressed the club's stance on player health: "We're not going to put him out there before he's ready," and maintained there was still "a chance" Daniels could play in Week 4, while stopping short of committing to a timeline.
Separately, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that consultations with medical specialists concluded Daniels is "expected back at three weeks or sooner." Quinn, however, emphasized the team's priority is a day-to-day evaluation rather than setting a firm return date.
Quarterback picture for the Commanders
With Daniels limited this week and his status to be determined later in the week, the club's immediate focus is ensuring any decision to play him comes only after he is cleared by medical staff and the coaching staff is confident in his readiness.
The Commanders face the Indianapolis Colts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, the first of three NFL games scheduled in London over the next month. The team will finalize its quarterback plan as the Friday decision point approaches.
