Beckham's Instagram remarks: hurt, frustration and family
Odell Beckham Jr. spoke for the first time since his release in comments posted to an Instagram video, accusing the Giants of using him for money and writing, 'I coulda really been playing this year somewhere and making an impact.'
In the comments, Beckham wrote that he "came in HUMBLY took vet min then EARNED my spot," and that "this Shxt didn't hurt me," but said the cut still affected him when he went home and saw his son, who remained "happy" and whose reaction Beckham said "broke me tf down" and "hurt my heart to the core." He added that he "shoulda known better" and questioned why the team "gave me the run along," suggesting he could have been playing elsewhere and "making an impact."
Beckham's brief time with the Giants included just 20 snaps and one target before his release.
Giants coach frames decision as inability to get on-field production
Giants head coach Jim Harbaugh addressed Beckham's departure, saying the split "just wasn't working for us" and that he had "a great conversation with Odell."
Harbaugh said he wanted Beckham to contribute more and get him on the field more often, adding, "But we just weren't getting enough."
Beckham's Instagram comments were posted Oct. 3 and drew attention for their bluntness about the circumstances surrounding his exit and the personal toll he described. USA Today reported that he remains unsigned and will continue to look for a roster spot as the season progresses.
