Players reports the Jacksonville Jaguars and Parker Washington are unlikely to reach a contract extension before the regular season begins. Yahoo! News wrote, "It doesn't look like Jacksonville Jaguars' wide receiver Parker Washington will have a new contract prior to the regular season starting," and NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe called it "unlikely" a new deal will get done by the start of the season.
Club officials explored an extension in roughly the same range as Michael Wilson's three-year, $75 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals, but the sides had not come to terms as of Saturday night. Washington is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is slated to be a free agent in the 2027 offseason.
2025 breakout strengthens Washington's position
Washington produced career highs in 2025 with 58 catches for 847 yards and five touchdowns. He also scored two touchdowns as a punt returner last season. Those numbers helped him emerge as a primary target late in the year: including the postseason, he topped 100 receiving yards in three of the Jaguars' final four games, and in each of those four contests he was targeted at least nine times by the team's quarterback.
The statistical finish gives Washington a clearer negotiating benchmark as he heads into 2026, a season widely framed as pivotal for his next contract step. Yahoo! News reported that NFL insider Jordan Schultz has described Washington's relationship with the Jaguars as remaining "in a healthy place."
