Price’s injury and expected timeline

Rookie running back Jadarian Price has been placed on injured reserve and will miss at least four games after aggravating a chest injury in practice this week. The move removes Seattle’s first-round pick from the active roster for the near term and forces the club to recalibrate its plans for the running game.
The injury had already ruled Price out of Seattle’s Week 4 game after a setback following an earlier injury. Earlier reports noted the Week 4 absence was tied to a re-aggravation of a shoulder injury sustained in Week 2. The team’s IR designation, however, centers on the chest injury aggravated in practice and establishes the minimum four-game absence.
Immediate ripple effects on the Seahawks’ running-back room
With Price on IR, the active running-back rotation now projects to Emanuel Wilson, George Holani and Velus Jones Jr., the latter of whom was elevated from the practice squad to fill Price’s roster spot. That trio will carry the bulk of the workload while Seattle navigates the next month without the rookie first-rounder.
The Seahawks also remain without presumed starter Zach Charbonnet. Charbonnet has been designated to return to practice but is expected to miss at least one more game before the club can realistically consider activating him. That leaves Seattle short two of its primary backs for the coming stretch.
Seattle made additional practice-squad elevations on Saturday, promoting cornerback Trevon Diggs and safety Max Hook as part of a group of roster transactions that included Price’s IR placement.
The removal of Price from the active roster reshapes both short-term game planning and personnel flexibility. Price’s absence forces more carries and situational snaps to the remaining active backs and increases the importance of the recent practice-squad elevations to provide immediate depth.
For a team already managing injuries at the position, the move narrows roster options and places an emphasis on availability and performance from Wilson and Holani, with Velus Jones Jr. serving as a depth piece who can be used in multiple roles after his elevation.
The Seahawks now head into the next slate of games without Price and with Charbonnet still sidelined, leaving the organization to rely on its remaining running backs until at least one of the injured players is eligible to return.
