Isiah Pacheco has undergone back surgery and will be sidelined for an extended period, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell said Monday. Campbell told reporters Pacheco had the procedure and “is going to be out a significant amount of time.”
NFL Network reported the operation removed a loose body that had been pressing on a nerve and that Pacheco will need roughly 12 weeks to recover. Yahoo! News framed that same recovery window as a 12-week timeline that leaves open a chance he could return by early December, a projection rather than a firm return date.

Pacheco was already on injured reserve after being placed on the list Sept. 1 with a designation to return, a move that had him slated to miss at least the first four games of the season. The back problem was an unexpected development after Pacheco suffered an MCL injury during training camp.
The surgery and 12-week recovery estimate make a midseason return possible in a best-case scenario, but exact timing will depend on his rehabilitation progress and medical clearances. Yardbarker suggested the Detroit debut could be delayed until December, a characterization the outlet offered as a possible outcome rather than a confirmed timeline.
