Marvin Harrison Jr. was traded from Arizona to Houston on Sunday, a move announced by Houston coach DeMeco Ryans after the Texans’ win, and it comes on the heels of the Detroit Lions’ dominant 45-21 victory over Arizona in Week 5.

Marvin Harrison Jr. Trade Arrives After Lions’ Week 5 Win, Shifts Roster Picture

DeMeco Ryans ended the Texans’ postgame news conference following their win over the Tennessee Titans to announce the acquisition of wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. The deal sends Harrison Jr. to Houston in exchange for 2027 second- and sixth-round draft picks and a 2027 seventh-round selection.

The transaction removes Marvin Harrison Jr. from Arizona’s roster and places him with the Texans, a roster change finalized immediately after the Texans’ win.

Detroit’s Week 5 performance and context for the roster change

The Detroit Lions’ 45-21 victory over Arizona stood out as a commanding offensive display. Sporting News noted the Lions’ offense started slowly but then scored on seven consecutive drives — a stretch that propelled the margin of victory and underscored the team’s efficiency in the game.

That result came against Arizona before the club parted ways with Marvin Harrison Jr., meaning Detroit’s Week 5 emphatic showing was produced against an Arizona roster that has since been altered by the Houston deal.

For the Lions, the win reinforced the offensive momentum demonstrated across those seven scoring drives and kept the team in a positive position heading out of Week 5. For Marvin Harrison Jr., the trade shifts him into Houston’s program immediately after that weekend’s slate of games.
