Drone forces five-minute stop with Packers poised to extend lead

Unauthorized drone halts Packers game; play resumes as Jacobs scores, Watson returns from ambulance

An unauthorized drone hovering over Lambeau Field briefly stopped Thursday Night Football and forced officials to clear the field while the aircraft was dealt with. Play was halted with the Green Bay Packers poised on a third-and-one, and both teams were sent to their sidelines for roughly five minutes before the situation was resolved.

The NFL maintains strict prohibitions on drones in the vicinity of games, and officials would not continue until the aerial intruder was neutralized. Amazon’s broadcast later told viewers the drone had departed and play could resume.

When the game restarted the Packers struck quickly: Jordan Love connected on a short touchdown pass to Josh Jacobs, and Trey Smack’s extra point made it 27-10 with 7:30 left in the third quarter.

Players, prior controversies and an unexpected ambulance return

The stoppage unfolded amid other unusual events on and off the field. Earlier, Packers wide receiver Christian Watson had exited the game and been taken to a local hospital for evaluation of a chest injury. During the drone delay, an ambulance returned to Lambeau Field, and Watson was shown on the Amazon broadcast hustling out of the vehicle and back toward the locker room before re-entering the field.

Running back Josh Jacobs — who marked his return from the delay with the touchdown — is in only his second game back after a stint on the Commissioner's Exempt list following an offseason arrest on alleged domestic violence charges. The game’s disruption followed controversy surrounding a touchdown celebration by Jacobs earlier in the contest; Daily Express Us reported that his celebration, which mimicked being handcuffed behind his back, drew widespread outrage and that fans called for the NFL to impose a fine. That connection between the celebration and the drone incident has been reported but remains a disputed link.

The pause altered momentum for only a few minutes, but it produced an immediate, tangible result for Green Bay. The Packers converted the interruption into points and maintained control of the game following the stoppage, while the roster and stadium personnel navigated an atypical midgame safety and security response.

The official final score reflected the Packers’ control: Green Bay Packers 27, Carolina Panthers 10.
