Game-day absence and injury timeline

DJ Moore Inactive for Monday Night After Shoulder Aggravation; Bills Adjust Roster

DJ Moore was declared inactive for Monday Night Football after aggravating an AC sprain in his left shoulder, Yahoo! News reported, citing NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe.

Earlier in the week, Moore was officially listed as questionable after managing just one limited practice session during Week 5 preparation. He did not practice Thursday or Friday but returned to a limited session on Saturday, a development that produced the questionable designation.

On Monday afternoon the Buffalo Bills elevated wide receiver Trent Sherfield Sr. from the practice squad; Cbssports suggested that move could indicate Moore's status was a true game-time decision.

Performance context and roster impact

Through four games this season, Moore has 12 receptions for 178 yards and a touchdown, Cbssports reported. His most productive outing came Week 1, when he posted five catches for 100 yards and a score; he also caught six passes for 67 yards in Week 3.

Yahoo! News noted that Moore is ranked 31st on PFN’s WR Impact Rankings with a grade of 75.9.

The absence represents a notable roster change for the Buffalo Bills, who entered the weekend 3-1 and were seeking a rebound after a 29-26 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 4. Yahoo! News characterized Moore’s sideline status as a significant blow to the team’s plans for Monday night.

Moore re-aggravated the shoulder in the second quarter of the Week 4 loss, and while he had not missed a game earlier in the season because of the issue, the lingering nature of the injury contributed to the limited practice work and the eventual inactive listing, Cbssports reported.

The Bills’ elevation of Trent Sherfield Sr. provides immediate depth for the active roster, but the move was framed as a precautionary roster adjustment tied to Moore’s uncertain availability. The team’s game-day receiving rotations and play-calling will be monitored closely to assess how they compensate for the absence.

With the regular-season stretch still early, the Bills will need to manage Moore’s recovery timeline carefully. For now, his inactive designation and the AC sprain place a question mark on his near-term availability, and will force the team’s coaching staff to rely on the depth they assembled in recent days.
