Jack Ham, the Hall of Fame linebacker and Penn State radio analyst, was in stable condition at the University of Washington Medical Center on Saturday night after a medical emergency at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
Ham, 77, experienced the emergency after arriving at the stadium on a team bus Saturday morning. He was preparing for Penn State’s radio broadcast and was taken to the nearby hospital for treatment. Penn State did not release details of his condition.
After Penn State’s 28-25 win over Washington, coach Matt Campbell said Ham’s broadcast partner, Steve Jones, was instrumental in getting him immediate care. Campbell also thanked Washington officials and emergency personnel.
“If it’s not for Steve and what he did, I don’t know if we would have as good news as we do right now,” Campbell said.

Campbell said he spoke with players about Ham’s situation before the game. “Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with him for a full recovery,” he said.
Ham has been Penn State’s radio analyst since 2000. An All-American linebacker for the Nittany Lions in 1970, he made eight Pro Bowls and won four Super Bowls during 12 NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1990.
