Jordan Love and Green Bay’s surge

Packers Look to Extend Momentum as Jordan Love Leads Green Bay into Sunday Night Clash with Cowboys

The Green Bay Packers (3-2) will bring clear momentum into Sunday Night Football after a dominant 31-7 home victory over the Chicago Bears that marked the club's first back-to-back wins of the season.

Central to that surge was Jordan Love, who completed 25 of 31 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in the rout. That performance stands as the Packers' best of the year and gives Green Bay a potent passing attack to lean on against the Dallas Cowboys.

The victory was comprehensive — a 24-point margin that left the Packers feeling they had regained the upper hand in the rivalry with Chicago. Green Bay now begins the second game of a three-game, rival-filled stretch and will travel to Detroit after facing Dallas for an NFC North-heavy sequence of matchups.

Cowboys' recent form and turnover issues

The Dallas Cowboys enter Lambeau Field at 2-3 after a Thursday-night loss at home to Tampa Bay, a 24-16 defeat in which Dallas committed three turnovers. That game left the Cowboys searching for answers defensively and operationally as they head into a prime-time test.

Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur has been clear that the matchup won't be taken lightly. "It's a new defense, and so there's going to be some challenges along the way and sometimes, you know, sometimes you got to go through some tough stuff to come out the other side and be better for it," LaFleur said, and he added, "They're going to be a hungry team coming in here Sunday Night Football, so we're excited about it."

The Cowboys' turnover-prone outing against Tampa Bay gives the Packers an opening to exploit in a game where ball security will be paramount for Dallas.

Matchup storylines and stakes

Sunday night's contest will be a measuring stick for both teams. Green Bay aims to extend its winning streak and ride the confidence from its lopsided win over Chicago into two more rivalry tests. The Packers' passing game, energized by Love's efficiency and big-yardage day, will be the focal point of their attack.

Dallas has had turnover problems — the Cowboys committed three turnovers in a 24-16 loss to Tampa Bay — and their defense has struggled recently. Coach Matt LaFleur said, “It's a new defense, and so there's going to be some challenges along the way and sometimes, you know, sometimes you got to go through some tough stuff to come out the other side and be better for it,” adding that “they're going to be a hungry team coming in here Sunday Night Football” and that he expects the Cowboys to come prepared.

There is also broader context tied to the matchup: Yardbarker projects that the Packers–Cowboys showdown could carry potential wild-card implications down the line, a projection that frames this game as more than just a single regular-season contest.

Coaches on both sidelines will weigh matchups carefully. Green Bay must find a balance between leveraging Love's rhythm and protecting whatever weaknesses Dallas will attempt to exploit, while the Cowboys must reduce giveaways and contend with a Packers offense that showed it can sustain drives and finish possessions in the red zone.

Sunday's spotlight will fall on whether Jordan Love can duplicate the accuracy and playmaking he displayed against Chicago and whether Dallas can stop the bleeding from turnovers that cost it against Tampa Bay. With Green Bay looking to maintain momentum and Dallas desperate to reverse a slide, the stage is set for a nationally televised night with meaningful consequences.
