Despite a signing to a huge contract this summer, Sylvain Francisco might not suit up for LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne after all.
According to Sotiris Vetakis of Betarades, Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens are submitting an offer to Francisco, who is on his way out of ASVEL, because Tony Parker has failed to guarantee his contract money, since no new investor was found.
Francisco's side, according to Vetakis' sources, made sure to cover the €400,000 buyout to Zalgiris Kaunas when ASVEL failed to do so, while Nick Weiler-Babb is also on the shortlist as a backup option for Panathinaikos. The same sources tell Betarades that the Greens have already submitted their final offer and are awaiting a quick response from the French star’s camp.
While the offer doesn't reach the €5 million the French star expected from ASVEL, he would still receive over €3 million.
Francisco as well as other players signed to the French club are weighing their options and looking for other potential destinations.
The exciting guard had a stellar campaign with the Lithuanian champions last season, averaging 16.5 points, 6.5 assists, and 2.9 rebounds, also shooting almost 39% from 3.
Francisco was named to the All-EuroLeague First Team this past season.
